FACTS AND COSTS

National Spending on Long-Term Care
The total amount spent on long-term care services in the United States (in 2005) was $206.6 billion. This does not include care provided by family or friends on an unpaid basis (often called "informal care.") It only includes the costs of care from a paid provider.

What Does Long-Term Care Cost?
There are variations in costs based on the type and amount of care you need, the provider you use, and where you live. Home health and home care services, provided in two-to-four-hour blocks of time referred to as "visits," are generally more expensive in the evening, or on weekends or holidays.

The average costs in the United States (in 2009) are:
$21/hour for a Home Health Aide $19/hour for a Homemaker services

HOW YOU EARN INCOME!

  • Step 1. You assess a Client and the Client contracts your Agency for services.
  • Step 2. The client signs the contract for services.
  • Step 3. You match compatible Caregiver with Client. The Agency usually earns at least 40% to 50% of the agency billing rate.

  • The cost for one client receiving home care services for 24 hours a day nationally is between $135/day - $245/day (Average Billing Rate is $175/day - $200/day) which calculates as:
  • Weekly: $945 to $1715
  • Monthly: $3780 to $6860 (28 days)
  • Yearly: $15120 to $82320

As you can see, your agency does not need a lot of clients before you are earning a significant income. From your gross income, subtract your payroll to your employees/caregivers and subtract all your overhead expenses to get your net profit. Your overhead and payroll could vary greatly depending on your choices. PHHC will train you to keep your overhead low and keep your income high.
